Job description

Join a respected and growing Atlantic Canadian organization in a senior finance leadership role where you will oversee the accounting function, lead and develop a team of finance professionals, and play a key role in strengthening the financial infrastructure of a successful and expanding business.

Your New Employer

Our client is a well-established and highly respected organization with a strong reputation for quality, customer service, and operational excellence. The company has built a successful business by focusing on delivering exceptional service, investing in its people, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Over the years, the organization has experienced consistent growth and has developed a strong leadership team committed to long-term success. As the business continues to evolve, there is a growing need for additional financial leadership to support increasingly sophisticated reporting requirements, strengthen internal controls, and further professionalize the finance function.

The finance team plays an important role in supporting both operational and strategic decision-making across the organization. Working closely with leadership and stakeholders throughout the business, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while helping shape the future of the accounting and finance function.

Your New Role

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance, the Corporate Controller will assume a key leadership position within the organization and serve as the senior accounting leader responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and effectiveness of the finance function.

This is a highly visible and hands‑on role that combines technical accounting leadership, operational oversight, team management, and process improvement. The successful candidate will take ownership of the accounting cycle and ensure that the organization maintains high standards of financial discipline, accountability, and reporting accuracy.

A significant portion of the role will focus on financial reporting and technical accounting responsibilities. The Corporate Controller will oversee month‑end and year‑end close activities, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, balance sheet integrity, general ledger management, and audit coordination. Particular emphasis will be placed on ensuring that accounting processes are executed consistently, that supporting documentation is properly maintained, and that financial information is accurate, complete, and audit‑ready.

Beyond traditional accounting responsibilities, the Corporate Controller will play an important role in strengthening internal controls, developing standardized procedures, improving reporting processes, and creating greater accountability throughout the finance function. The successful candidate will be expected to identify opportunities for improvement, proactively address issues before they become larger problems, and establish scalable processes that support the organization’s continued growth.

The position also includes oversight of day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, cash flow monitoring, and related financial activities. Working closely with operations and other business leaders, the Corporate Controller will help ensure that financial information is timely, reliable, and useful for decision‑making.

Leadership is a critical component of the role. The successful candidate will lead and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing technical guidance, mentorship, coaching, and support while helping team members continue to grow and develop within the organization. This opportunity is best suited for a leader who enjoys being involved in the details, takes pride in producing accurate financial information, and is willing to roll up their sleeves when necessary to support the team and business.

What Sets You Apart

You bring a CPA designation and progressive accounting and finance experience gained in public accounting, industry, or a similarly complex business environment. You possess a strong foundation in financial reporting, technical accounting, reconciliations, internal controls, audit coordination, and month‑end close management, and you are recognized for maintaining high standards of accuracy and accountability.

Your experience includes leading accounting processes, reviewing financial information, supporting audits, and managing competing priorities within deadline‑driven environments. You have likely progressed through Accounting roles in Senior‑level positions, and you are now looking for an opportunity to apply your technical expertise within a growing organization where you can have a broader impact.

You are known for your attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ownership mentality, and ability to independently identify and solve problems. You enjoy creating structure, improving processes, and helping teams operate more effectively. Equally important, you are a collaborative leader who builds credibility through expertise, accountability, and a willingness to support others.

Why Join?

This opportunity offers the chance to step into a senior accounting leadership role within a successful, growing organization where finance plays a key role in supporting the broader business. You will work closely with an experienced leadership team, gain meaningful exposure to operational and financial decision‑making, and have the opportunity to influence the future direction of the finance function.

The role offers significant variety and scope, providing exposure to technical accounting, financial reporting, team leadership, process improvement, operational finance, and business support activities. You will have the opportunity to strengthen existing processes, develop team members, improve reporting capabilities, and create lasting impact across the organization.

For individuals seeking a long‑term opportunity with a stable, well‑respected company that values accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth, this role offers an excellent combination of technical depth, leadership responsibility, and career progression.

Compensation

Our client is offering a competitive base salary range between $105,000 – $125,000.00 with a target bonus opportunity of approximately 10%. The overall compensation package includes a comprehensive employer‑paid benefits program, professional development support, an RRSP match of up to 4%, 3 weeks' vacation, and opportunities for continued career growth and advancement.

Additional Information

This is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in supporting the organization’s continued success and growth.
