Join our operations team as Maintenance Manager. You'll lead the maintenance of MMC's heavy equipment, trucks, and support assets across demanding oil sands and industrial sites—driving equipment availability, reliability, and compliance while building best-in-class asset management practices. Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

• Lead maintenance operations in full compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure all maintenance personnel follow safe work procedures, including lockout/tagout, hazard assessments, and field-level risk assessments.
• Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Support and maintain compliance with COR and client-specific safety standards.

Maintenance Operations

• Manage all preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
• Develop and maintain maintenance schedules for heavy equipment and fleet assets.
• Monitor equipment condition and prioritize repairs based on operational needs.
• Coordinate shop and field maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime.
• Ensure quality control standards are met for all maintenance work.

Asset Reliability

• Analyze equipment performance, failure trends, and root causes.
• Implement reliability improvement initiatives to reduce recurring failures.
• Optimize PM intervals and maintenance strategies.
• Work closely with operations to improve equipment utilization and life cycle performance.

Financial Management

• Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget.
• Monitor labour, parts, and subcontractor costs.
• Identify opportunities to reduce repair and maintenance expenses.
• Approve purchase orders and vendor invoices within delegated authority.

Inventory & Procurement

• Oversee parts inventory and ensure critical spare parts availability.
• Manage relationships with OEMs, suppliers, and external repair vendors.
• Negotiate pricing and service agreements where appropriate.

Leadership & People Management

• Lead and mentor supervisors, planners, mechanics, and support staff.
• Conduct performance reviews and establish development plans.
• Manage workforce scheduling and staffing requirements.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Systems & Reporting

• Utilize ERP systems to track work orders, costs, and equipment history.
• Prepare and report maintenance KPIs including:
• Equipment availability
• Mean time between failures (MTBF)
• Repair and maintenance cost per hour
• Planned vs. unplanned work
• Backlog status

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician, Truck and Transport Technician, or equivalent trade certification.
• Minimum 10 years of maintenance experience in mining, oil sands, construction, or heavy industrial operations.
• Minimum 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of Caterpillar, Komatsu, and other heavy equipment systems.
• Experience with maintenance planning, budgeting, and inventory management.
• Proficiency with ERP systems.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license; Class 1 is an asset.

Working Conditions

• Combination of office, shop, and field work.
• Frequent interaction with operations and field personnel.
