Construction Site Superintendent
Location: Various sites across BC, MB, NWT & YK
Salary: $100,000 - $150,000 plus benefits and an attractive bonus plan
We are seeking experienced Construction Site Superintendents, Remote Superintendents, Cross-Shift Superintendents, and Foremen to support a series of remote construction projects on a fly-in/fly-out rotational basis.
Successful candidates will work on rotations of either 21 days on and 7 days off or 20 days on and 10 days off, supporting industrial, institutional, and commercial construction projects delivered through design-build, fixed-price, and construction management models.
Projects are located across Manitoba, the Northwest Territories, British Columbia, and Yukon, with nearby hubs including The Pas, Inuvik, Prince George, Whitehorse, and Kamloops.
Must Haves
- Minimum of 5 years of field leadership experience in commercial, industrial, institutional, or mixed-use construction.
- Proven experience supervising day-to-day site operations on active construction projects.
- Willingness and ability to work out of town in remote locations on a fly-in/fly-out rotational schedule.
- Strong working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and applicable building code requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and site crews in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong understanding of occupational health and safety requirements, site safety planning, hazard assessments, and daily field documentation.
- Ability to maintain accurate daily reports, track site progress, and support schedule-driven project execution.
- Experience ensuring work is completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.
- Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency using common construction and office software such as Procore, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and scheduling tools.
Nice to Haves
- Trade certification, technical diploma, construction management education, or a related technical degree.
- Experience working on remote, northern, rotational, or camp-based construction projects.
- Knowledge of pre-engineered metal building systems.
- Experience working on projects delivered through design-build, fixed-price, and construction management models.
- Experience coordinating cross-shift work, night shift crews, or multiple superintendent and foreman handoffs.
- Strong knowledge of site layout, elevations, and coordination with surveyors.
- Experience chairing subcontractor coordination meetings and driving lookahead planning.
- Familiarity with quality control programs and formal project closeout processes.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily field operations to ensure construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in alignment with project requirements.
- Lead site activities involving subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, own forces, and project stakeholders.
- Manage and enforce the project health and safety program in accordance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation and company safety policies.
- Conduct daily site orientations, toolbox meetings, hazard assessments, and safety documentation.
- Review drawings, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, and site instructions to confirm work is being completed correctly.
- Coordinate site layout requirements and work with surveyors to confirm building layout, elevations, and key control points.
- Monitor construction progress against the project schedule and proactively identify issues that may affect timelines, sequencing, or productivity.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, site records, manpower logs, equipment logs, deliveries, inspections, and progress tracking.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities to reduce conflicts, maintain productivity, and ensure work areas are ready for upcoming scopes.
- Schedule and chair regular site coordination meetings with trades, suppliers, and project team members.
- Support project planning, scheduling, cost control, logistics, and short-term lookahead planning.
- Ensure work is completed in compliance with approved design drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards.
- Implement and maintain the project quality control program throughout construction.
- Identify deficiencies, coordinate corrective work, and support timely completion of punch list and closeout activities.
- Communicate regularly with project managers and stakeholders regarding site progress, risks, constraints, manpower needs, and upcoming milestones.
- Promote a positive, accountable, and team-focused site culture while representing the project professionally in remote and regional communities.
