Job description

Why should you join our team?

Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. is an independent renewable energy producer with an extensive and growing portfolio of assets in Canada, the United States, France and Chile. The Corporation develops, acquires, owns and operates hydroelectric facilities, wind farms, solar farms and energy storage facilities.

For more than 30 years, Innergex has believed in a world where abundant renewable energy promotes healthier communities and creates shared prosperity. We are convinced that generating power from renewable sources will lead the way to a better world. We remain committed to responsible growth that balances people, our planet, and prosperity. We believe in offering an engaging, inclusive and supportive work environment where each team member can thrive.

Your contribution!

As Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in supporting the company’s activities across the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects. You will provide practical, business-oriented legal advice on project development, procurement, construction, acquisitions, financing, commercial contracting, and partnerships.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support projects across British Columbia, other Canadian provinces, and the United States—from early-stage development through financing, construction, operation, and potential acquisition.

Your day-to-day!

  • Participate in renewable energy project development, procurement, construction, acquisition, financing, and corporate transaction files
  • Support legal workstreams related to project financings, acquisitions, partnerships, and development initiatives, including due diligence, documentation, closing, and post-closing follow-up
  • Monitor and ensure the completion of legal commitments and obligations before and after transaction closings
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts (development, procurement, services, confidentiality, partnership, financing-related and project-related agreements)
  • Coordinate and manage legal aspects of community, Indigenous, commercial, and financial partnerships in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Provide practical legal advice to business units on operations, risk management, governance, and commercial relationships
  • Support the development and implementation of internal legal processes, templates, and best practices
  • Manage multiple files and complex transactions while coordinating with internal stakeholders and external counsel

Your skills, our requirements!

  • Member in good standing of the Law Society of British Columbia
  • Membership in a U.S. state bar is an asset
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant legal experience (law firm, in‑house, or both)
  • Experience in areas such as project financing, mergers and acquisitions, renewable energy project development, infrastructure, procurement, construction, commercial contracts, or corporate transactions
  • Experience in renewable energy, power, infrastructure, natural resources, or project development sectors is an asset
  • Experience coordinating due diligence, transaction closings, and post-closing obligations is an asset
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities within tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills, autonomy, attention to detail, and sound judgment
  • High degree of integrity, professionalism, discretion, and ethical standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across legal, business, technical, financial, and operational teams
  • Practical, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with document management systems or legal project management platforms is an asset

Additional considerations!

  • The position can be based in the company's Vancouver (BC) office.
  • This position is a P3 level.

Our benefits!

  • Competitive salary and annual bonus;
  • Three weeks vacation to start and paid vacations during the holiday season;
  • 100% Innergex-funded medical insurance from day one of employment, including primary care services through dialogue (or telemedicine) for permanent positions;
  • Group retirement plans with employer participation;
  • 100% Employer-funded Wellness Account;
  • Electric vehicle (E-VIP) incentive program;
  • Hybrid work model;
  • Career development opportunities;
  • Offices accessible by public transportation.

Pay Transparency Statement

Compensation for roles at Innergex varies based on a wide range of factors, including skill set, education, and relevant experience. We are committed to pay equity and take internal equity among current team members into account when determining any final offer.

To support pay transparency, the hiring range for this position is $105,000–$130,000 per year, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. Your final base salary, if hired, will be determined by factors such as your skills, education, and experience, along with our commitment to internal equity.

Please note that it is not typical to hire at the top of the hiring range, as doing so limits opportunities for future salary growth. Innergex also offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.

Innergex is an equal opportunity employer that values each person’s unique background, diversity, experiences, perspectives and talents. Innergex is committed to providing employees with a work environment free of discrimination and harassment and bases all employment decisions on business needs, job requirements and individual qualifications. The key to our success as a global company is to recruit, develop and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool.
