The Allied Health Services team consists of Regulated Healthcare Professional including: Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Social Work, Registered Dietitians, Respiratory Therapy, as well as unregulated Rehabilitation Assistants. Each discipline is focused on driving evidence informed practice to promote high quality patient and family centered care.
The team has a Professional Practice Leader (PPL) model for each regulated allied health discipline which promotes and enhances the interprofessional team. Each discipline has their own PPL with dedicated time to enhance their communities of practice, represent their respective disciplines at committees, create policies & procedures and lead corporate level initiatives.

We are recruiting for two casual Rehabilitation Assistant positions.
The successful candidate will support the RA role, provide casual replacement and backfill for acute inpatient medical, surgical and critical care units. Our RAs are scheduled weekends and weekdays from 800-16:00, and work under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist and/or Physiotherapist as part an interdisciplinary care team.
Casual staff are required to submit a range of availability for both weekend and weekday shifts, and pick up shifts with a minimum frequency to maintain competency and currency with acute care practice changes.
Rehabilitation Assistants are responsible for documenting and communicating all appropriate information to the PT and OT they are working with and as necessary with other health team members, to ensure the best possible care is given to each patient as well as ensure safety for both personal and patient safety.
As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements:
- Secondary School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Rehabilitation Assistant Program: dual trained OTA/PTA program certification mandatory
- Inpatient acute care experience as a Rehabilitation Assistant (OTA/PTA) strongly preferred
You will be an ideal candidate for this position if you have:
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, focusing on patient centered care
- Rehab Assistant (OTA & PTA) experience in acute hospital and ambulatory care settings
- Knowledge of the use and purpose of therapeutic modalities for inpatient care settings
- Understanding of proper exercise techniques
- Safe and effective patient transfer techniques
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work successfully within an interprofessional team
