The successful candidate
will:Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for one. Have experience in following the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum. Hold a Bachelor’s degree of Education. The School Mary Bergeron Elementary (MBE) is a modern K-5 school that serves 430 students. The school is located in Edson, Alberta along the beautiful Yellowhead Highway, and is one of two elementary schools, in Edson, that are part of the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division. Mary Bergeron Elementary offers a variety of programming and outstanding learning opportunities which include dedicated Music and Physical Education specialists on staff. Mary Bergeron Elementary is blessed with the most amazing, talented, and dedicated staff, students, and parents that work together to make our school a world-class elementary school. We are constantly developing strong relationships between students, staff, and parents that are based on mutual trust and respect. There are currently thirty-eight staff members working at the school, including teachers, administrators, teacher assistants, family school liaison counsellor, and a learning support teacher. The Division Grande Yellowhead Public School Division (GYPSD) stretches from Jasper National Park, east to Evansburg, south of Cadomin, and northwest to Grande Cache. The jurisdiction includes 17 schools, 5 Learning Connection Centers, approximately 5000 students and 600 staff. The Division is governed by seven elected Trustees. The Board’s priorities are: Student Learning Teacher, Support Staff and Leader Excellence Community Engagement System Health and Wellness GYPSD schools offer a broad range of JK-12 programs. Principals focus on strong instructional leadership using generative dialogue to support teacher growth and supervision. The Division is noted for its commitment to strong literacy practices infused across the curriculum, inclusive education and for its innovative technology programs. The Division is committed to strong professional development and each teacher and principal has the opportunity to apply for up to $2500 per year to support professional learning.
