Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of drafting duties, under direction, relating to conceptual designs through to final working and construction drawings in connection with electrical, civil, structural, mechanical, architectural, instrumentational engineering requirements of electric generation, stations, transmission, distribution, and communication projects.
• Produces and/or revises Issue for Construction (IFC) drawings, plans from design layouts, sketches, rough notes and verbal instructions.
• Compiles, assembles and issues Issued for Construction (IFC) packages.
• Produces As built drawings from field mark ups.
• Monitor, handle and track incoming and outgoing electronic documents between the project teams, vendors, consultants and contractors in a timely manner.
• Together with the engineering design team, organize and maintain all documents and records, including drawings, substation drawing list, equipment manuals, etc.
• Produces and/or revises custom maps, report drawings, standard drawings, schematics, overlays, charts, diagrams, displays and drafting standards.
• Imports information utilizing data transfer techniques, digitizing, scanning and conversion software.
• Provides guidance to others regarding layout of drawings and the application of engineering and engineering drafting standards and procedures; maintain and adhere to drafting standards.
• Conduct work in a manner that prevents injuries and incidents. Maintain knowledge and understanding of safety policies, practices and procedures. Lead by example by putting safety first at all times.
• Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties, which do not affect the rating of the job.

Requirements

• Education: High School graduation including completion of design courses, such as Engineering Technology or AutoCAD.
• Experience: One year of recent, related experience.
• Working knowledge of computer systems operations, environment and peripherals and various applications software in use in the department (SAP & suite of MS Office products).
• Working knowledge of the use of AutoCAD.
• Experience working with Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS), such as Aconex, On Track, Sharepoint, Live Link etc. in Document Control in a Capital Project
• Sound knowledge of systems operations and construction and maintenance processes and procedures.
• Courteous, professional manner in dealing with internal and external contacts.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure during peak workload situations.
• Sound organizational, analytical and decision-making skills, including the ability to interpret and organize data from a variety of sources.
• Sound oral, written and presentation skills.
• Intermediate level keyboarding skills, including the ability to format correspondence, reports and charts.
• Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s License.
