About the opportunity:
The Parking Control Officer is responsible for the education and enforcement of the Citys parking bylaws and proactive patrols of City public spaces. Controlling vehicular parking by issuing tickets to parking violators or by ordering vehicles to be towed are key functions of the position. The incumbent works outdoors in all weather conditions and walks during shifts requiring sufficient physical stamina. Shift work is required.
About your background:
Qualifications include Grade 12 and a minimum of one year of experience working with the public requiring enforcement of rules and regulations. Formal Training in conflict resolution and customer service is also required. Familiarity with parking control bylaw enforcement court and adjudication processes and experience working in a regulatory field enforcing regulations and gaining compliance are considered assets. You possess excellent interpersonal skills to courteously interact with the public as well as the ability to work independently. As a condition of employment this position requires obtaining and maintaining a clear Police Information Check for any offences related to the job. A valid full-privilege Class 5 BC drivers license (or an out-of-province equivalent) is also required.
