Job description
Our Division & CommunitiesFoothills School Division (FSD) serves the learning needs of approximately 8000 students from preschool to grade 12. We operate 22 public schools, an online digital school, an alternative campus, and three colony schools. These are located in the towns of Okotoks, High River, and Diamond Valley, and the communities of Blackie, Cayley, Heritage Heights, Red Deer Lake, Longview, Millarville and Foothills County.We honour the spirit, life, and lessons this land and its ancestors teach us. We acknowledge the traditional land and territories of the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai, Tsuutina, and Îyârhe Nakoda as well as the Foothills District and the Rocky View District within the Battle River Territory of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government of Alberta.The RoleWe are currently seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to join our therapy team on a temporary basis working 40 hours per week. This position follows the school calendar working end of August - June. The Speech Language Pathologist provides speech and language services for children (Kindergarten – Grade 12) in the Division. The SLP ensures early identification of speech and language needs of students, and effectively supports interventions focused on speech and language to promote communication competence for children and educational success. The SLP works directly in the classroom with Teachers, Learning Coaches, and Educational Assistants to complete speech and language screening, provide further assessments and consultation as well as direct therapy, and develop classroom-based interventions with individual or small groups of students. This position provides service to various schools within the Division. A typical work week will be divided by 75% of your time working directly with students/staff and the remaining 25% for administrative tasks such as charting, report writing, planning, etc. Position RequirementsThis position requires a degree in Speech Language Pathology from a recognized university and be registered or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists. In addition, a minimum of two (2) years experience supporting students with speech and language delays/disorders and collaborating with classroom teachers is preferred. Previous experience with a variety of ages of students is considered an asset. We offer a competitive wage and a comprehensive benefit package.
