Job description
JOB TITLE: Energy Efficiency – Engineer in Training
LOCATION: VPC - Toronto, ON


Specific Accountabilities:

• Support Commercial energy efficiency targets.

• Develop basic technical solutions and complete energy efficiency calculations for assigned customers.

• Build working relationships with customers to support energy-saving goals.

• Work with contractors, equipment suppliers, and engineers to deliver energy efficiency projects.

• Conduct customer outreach and site walkthroughs to identify energy-saving opportunities.

• Create and maintain account plans, project forecasts, and performance updates.

• Enter and track projects accurately in DSM systems and assist with audits when required.

• Work closely with internal teams to complete work safely and on time.

• Support and present energy efficiency programs at customer meetings and events.


Scope Dimensions:

• Take initiative to meet individual and team performance targets.

• Build strong customer and business partner relationships.

• Support a strong safety culture by following safety procedures and best practices.

Internal

• Work closely with Energy Conservation team members.

• Collaborate with Technical, Program, Audit, and Marketing teams as needed.
External

• Work closely with customers, business partners, contractors, equipment suppliers, consulting engineers, builders, municipalities, and industry associations (e.g., HRAI, ASHRAE)


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


Required:

• University degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Environmental, or Chemical preferred).

• 1–3 years of experience in engineering, energy, HVAC, or building-related roles.

• Basic understanding of energy management and commercial building systems.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Self-motivated, customer-focused, and able to work independently and within a team.

• Comfortable presenting technical information to customers.

• Valid driver’s license with a responsible driving record.

Preferred:

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or equivalent status with PEO.

• PMP (Project Management Professional) certification

• Exposure to HVAC, boilers, BAS controls, or building construction.

• Interest in energy management or sustainability certifications.


Working Conditions:

• Approximately 50% office-based and 50% field-based work.

• Regular travel within Ontario, including occasional overnight stays.

• Frequent site visits to assess energy efficiency opportunities.

• Valid Ontario G-class driver’s license required.

Pay Rate for this role is between $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
