Remote NSBE Events Lead 2025/2026

Introduction:

NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) is a non-profit organization with over 16,000 members in 500 active chapters all over the world. NSBE's mission is to 'increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.' Within the Queen's University NSBE Chapter, we plan on achieving this goal by offering opportunities for mentorship, academic support, and professional development. We're looking to hire a team of motivated and passionate students for our exec team to help us accomplish this goal.

Role Description:

As Events Lead, you’ll be the driving force behind planning and executing NSBE Queen’s events—from professional workshops to social mixers and community-building activities. Your creativity, organization, and leadership will help create impactful experiences that strengthen our community and elevate our mission.

Main Responsibilities:

- Plan and coordinate chapter events, including logistics, scheduling, and budgeting

- Organize social events to foster member engagement and a sense of community

- Oversee venue booking, catering, tech setup, and volunteer coordination

- Collaborate with other execs to ensure events align with NSBE’s goals

- Maintain a calendar of upcoming events and track participation

Must Have Qualities:

- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

- Effective written, and oral communication skills.

- Effective time-management skills.

Nice To Have Qualities:

- Strong organizational and time management skills

- Experience planning events or working in a team-based environment

- Creative mindset and a passion for bringing people together

Additional Information:

The expected time commitment of the NSBE exec team varies by role, but is expected to be 1-3 hours a week. This includes meetings, events, and club communications.
