Position Overview

The Government of Alberta is seeking a Senior Application Architect with extensive SAP Supply Chain Management (SCM) expertise to lead the architecture and design of an integrated Supply Chain, Procurement, and Finance ecosystem.

The successful candidate will provide strategic architecture leadership across SAP S/4HANA, SAP Ariba, SAP Fieldglass, OpenText, SAP BTP, and related enterprise platforms. This role is responsible for ensuring seamless integration of end-to-end business processes including Plan-to-Deliver, Source-to-Contract (S2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Finance, Vendor Management, and Analytics.

This position requires a strong blend of enterprise architecture, SAP solution design, integration expertise, stakeholder engagement, and public-sector business process knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Architecture & Solution Design

• Lead architecture and solution design for Supply Chain, Procurement, and Finance business processes.
  
• Develop scalable and sustainable enterprise solutions across SAP S/4HANA, Ariba, Fieldglass, OpenText, and SAP BTP.
  
• Create long-term architectural roadmaps aligned with business and technology strategies.
  
• Assess solution feasibility and conduct impact analyses across enterprise applications.
  

Integration Architecture

• Design and govern integrations between SAP and non-SAP platforms.
  
• Define integration patterns utilizing:
  • SAP BTP Integration Suite
    
  • SAP CIG
    
  • APIs
    
  • IDocs
    
  • SAP Datasphere
    
• Ensure consistent master data, supplier data, and transactional data across the enterprise landscape.
  

Business Process Leadership

• Facilitate workshops with Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, and Vendor Management stakeholders.
  
• Translate business requirements into scalable architectural solutions.
  
• Provide strategic guidance on procurement modernization and supply chain transformation initiatives.
  
• Ensure compliance with public-sector procurement policies, audit requirements, and financial controls.
  

Project Delivery & Governance

• Lead solution blueprinting and architecture governance activities.
  
• Provide technical direction to consultants, developers, and QA teams.
  
• Oversee testing, validation, and deployment activities.
  
• Support SAP Ariba and Fieldglass quarterly release planning and testing.
  
• Maintain architecture standards, documentation, and governance processes.
  

Data & Analytics Strategy

• Partner with reporting and analytics teams to design enterprise reporting solutions.
  
• Support SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and SAP Datasphere implementations.
  
• Ensure reporting and analytics capabilities support operational, regulatory, and strategic business needs.
  

Mandatory Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in:

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    

Required Experience

• 10+ years of experience with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA in Source-to-Contract (S2C) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) environments.
  
• 8+ years of experience in end-to-end supply chain processes including inventory, logistics, sourcing, procurement, and supplier performance management.
  
• 8+ years of experience supporting enterprise transformation initiatives involving process harmonization, change management, and system integration.
  
• 6+ years of experience designing enterprise solutions with long-term architectural vision.
  
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA and SAP Ariba.
  
• 5+ years of SAP Finance (FI) experience including financial postings, invoice processing, and procurement integration.
  
• 5+ years of experience leading requirements gathering and solution evaluation sessions.
  
• 5+ years of leadership experience supporting testing and validation activities, particularly for SAP Ariba implementations and updates.
  
• 5+ years of experience working with public-sector procurement frameworks and compliance requirements.

Work Environment

• Hybrid work arrangement.
  
• Approximately 5 onsite days per month in Edmonton, Alberta.
  
• Standard hours:
  • Monday to Friday
    
  • 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM (Alberta Time)
    
• Work must be performed from within Canada.
