Remote Party Chief Surveyor - Fly-In / Fly-Out

Position: Party Chief Land Surveyor

Rotation: 14/7 rotation

Fly in/out: FROM Calgary or Edmonton TO Fort McMurray

Position Overview:

Challenger Geomatics has an opening for a Survey Party Chief on a fly in/out from Calgary or Edmonton to Fort McMurray on a 14 day-on and 7 day-off rotation.

Challenger has ongoing projects across Alberta, offering you the opportunity to gain experience on a variety of project types while advancing your career through our comprehensive training and development programs.

General Responsibilities:

• Completes field surveys and works closely with the Project Manager to ensure all client objectives are met.


• Provides necessary documentation to office staff including any field notes, computations, and other survey data.


• Communicates effectively with team members and ensures tasks are completed on time.


• Performs all health and safety duties as identified in the company’s safety procedures.


• Skilled with the use of survey equipment (GPS/GNSS Rovers, Total Stations, Locators, etc.) and ensures all company equipment and vehicles are properly operated and maintained.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Geomatics or related discipline as well as previous survey experience.


• Must be flexible and willing to work out of town.


• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract


• Physical fitness - party chief's work outside in tough conditions, often carrying equipment long distances.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in the energy sector or construction.


• Advanced Pilot (an asset)


• Line Locating experience


• 3D Scanner experience (an asset)


• Valid Safety Certificates (i.e. H2S, First Aid, CSTS, Wildlife Awareness)
