As a Product Engineer, you’llprovide technical engineering support to the operations team, ensure adherence to flight and product safety standards, and drive continuous improvement to enhance quality, reliability, and turnaround time. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product safety, reliability, and compliance while improving production efficiency and quality.
What you’ll do
● Provide day-to-day engineering support to production for assigned products and processes.
● Liaises with manufacturers in order to resolve technical problems.
● Assist in developing matrix routings to manage the flow of material throughout production processes.
● Develop, document, and maintain procedures, work instructions, and process documentation.
● Provide technical guidance and process-related training to production and support personnel.
● Analyze production and repair processes to improve quality, efficiency, and turnaround time with supporting cost analysis. Perform data analysis in order to establish metrics.
● Investigate equipment/tooling and process deficiencies and initiate corrective actions to reduce variation and improve reliability.
● Develop and implement new product repair processes based on engineering data, including planning and conducting repair trials.
● Perform cost-benefit analyses for new equipment, tooling, or technology that supports product and process improvements.
● Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, and vendors to implement new repairs, processes, and product improvements while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
● Carries out special projects as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 1 years of experience with manufacturing methods, shop equipment, and machining processes, demonstrated through hands-on work or completed projects.
- Experience demonstrating planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, decision-making, and oral and written communication skills, measurable by successful project completion, team management, or prior performance evaluations.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments, measurable by prior to use inspections, calibrations, or quality control tasks.
- Working knowledge of PCs in the company operating system environment and production management systems.
Strong analytical and root cause problem-solving skills.
Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints, demonstrated by successful completion of assigned manufacturing, repair, or maintenance tasks.
- Ability to read and understand company instructions, processes, and OEM manuals.
- Where applicable, registration with the relevant regulatory body or professional association is required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation, reporting, and training.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of aerospace materials, manufacturing process and repair methodologies is an asset.
- Project management experience in engineering or manufacturing environments.
- Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, vendors, and suppliers
- Knowledge of continuous improvement or lean manufacturing methodologies.
