PTW is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join our Calgary team in a key role supporting both pre-construction and project execution activities. In this position, you will play a critical part in securing materials, pricing, and supplier commitments that directly impact project success, cost efficiency, and schedule performance across commercial, municipal, and industrial projects.
Working closely with Estimating, Engineering, and Operations, you will help shape procurement strategy, support competitive project delivery, and ensure materials are sourced efficiently, accurately, and in line with project requirements. Key Responsibilities
• Play a key role in winning projects by developing procurement strategies that influence bid success, cost competitiveness, and overall project profitability
• Source pricing for electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and process equipment including MCCs, pumps, controls, lighting, and instrumentation systems
• Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to define procurement scope, identify risks, gaps, and key cost drivers early in the bid process
• Evaluate supplier quotations for accuracy, compliance, and commercial alignment while identifying opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization
• Provide market insight on pricing trends, lead times, and supply chain constraints across municipal, infrastructure, and industrial projects
• Apply understanding of contract structures (lump sum, unit rate, EPC/turnkey) to support procurement strategy and risk management decisions
• Issue RFQs and secure competitive bids from qualified suppliers and manufacturers
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability, responsiveness, and competitive pricing
• Collaborate closely with estimating, engineering, and project teams to align scope, pricing, and execution strategy
• Support bid reviews, commercial evaluations, and ensure smooth transition of procurement strategy into project execution
• Maintain accurate procurement records, pricing databases, and supplier performance history to support future bid competitiveness
• Ensure all procurement activities align with PTW policies, project requirements, and health, safety, and regulatory standards
Qualifications / Requirements
• 5+ years of procurement, purchasing, or sourcing experience in commercial, municipal, or industrial construction
• Experience supporting infrastructure or industrial projects (electrical, instrumentation, fabrication considered an asset)
• Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and commercial terms
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical project requirements
• Strong negotiation, organization, and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field is considered an asset
• Must have reliable transportation (site/office location not accessible by public transit)
