Hours: 36.25 Hours/Week (Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM MST)

Position Overview
The Government of Alberta is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to support the Procurement System Modernization Program within the 1GX ERP transformation initiative. This role will lead complex enterprise projects involving procurement, HRIS, budgeting, forecasting, and ERP modernization while collaborating with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
The successful candidate will oversee project planning, governance, stakeholder engagement, risk management, resource coordination, and successful delivery of strategic IT initiatives in a large public-sector environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex procurement modernization projects spanning:
- Contract-to-Pay (C2P)
- Procure-to-Pay (P2P)
- Source-to-Contract (S2C)
- Manage large-scale HRIS and enterprise business transformation projects.
- Develop project charters, business cases, project plans, status reports, dashboards, briefing notes, and closure reports.
- Define project scope, objectives, timelines, budgets, assumptions, risks, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate project governance activities and facilitate executive-level decision-making.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, deliverables, risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Prepare and present project updates to steering committees and executive leadership.
- Lead stakeholder engagement across ministries, vendors, technical teams, and business units.
- Ensure project compliance with enterprise architecture standards and organizational policies.
- Provide leadership, change management, and communication support throughout project delivery.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and project resources effectively.
- Collaborate with Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure adherence to project standards and methodologies.
Mandatory Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in:
- Information Technology
- Computer Science
- Engineering
- Mathematics
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
- Minimum 6 years of experience:
- Defining project scope and objectives with business stakeholders
- Managing IT projects
- Managing multiple projects concurrently
- Developing project deliverables including:
- Project Charters
- Business Cases
- Status Reports
- Risk Logs
- Dashboards
- Project Closure Reports
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications
- Active PMP or PgMP certification from PMI (or equivalent)
Additional Experience (4+ Years)
- Public sector project delivery experience
- Enterprise architecture environments
- Large custom software application development projects
- Multi-team IT solution implementation projects
- Stakeholder relationship management, including executive-level engagement
- Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, and hybrid delivery methodologies
