What to expect:
The Junior Machinist/ Junior Lab Technician, Lab is responsible for performing machine operations to provide Testing laboratory and weld test services for the CWB Group. This role may be fulfilled by any combination of the below duties and responsibilities and corresponding qualifications to fulfil specific functions within the Weld test shop.
This includes:
Laboratory
- Assist Senior Technician with day-to-day lab and shop activities.
- Operate basic machinery including milling machines, horizontal and vertical band saws, and angle grinders (training provided as needed).
- Process test plate orders according to internal procedures and specifications.
- Maintain accurate log sheets and job records.
- Handle shipping and receiving materials and samples.
- Prepare materials and components for testing.
- Perform assigned tasks safely and efficiently as directed by the Senior Technician.
- Maintain general housekeeping of the Milton lab, ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Assist with basic measurements and inspections using hand tools (calipers, tape measures, etc.).
- Support inventory organization and material tracking when required.
- Additional duties as assigned
Administrative
- Ensure all client complaints received are documented and addressed in three (3) business days or less.
- Customer correspondence (emails/phone calls including test result emails).
Other duties as assigned.
In this position, you will report to the Manager, Labs & Facilities and will be working remotely from your home office in Canada. CWB is adopting a remote-first working model, where employees will work from their home office, servicing the client within their specified areas either remotely or in person. We are embracing radical flexibility, where employees are encouraged to work a schedule that works best for them, their team, and their clients.
What you bring to the table:
- Post-Secondary Education.
- Minimum of 1-2 years welding, or metal industry, or testing service-related experience.
- General Machining, Tool and measuring equipment use.
- Practical welding and/or material and process knowledge.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and a minimum knowledge of Excel.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to pay attention to detail and ensure high accuracy of work.
- Ability to work within scheduled timeframes and set priorities to ensure deadlines are met.
- Interpersonal Skills and ability to work with a team.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
