You’ll gain valuable field experience while still sleeping in your own bed every night.Major Responsibilities:Work with Estimation and Project Management resources to ensure estimates accurately reflect the project scope and risksEstablish conceptual project schedules, execution strategies, and design scopes of workEnsure all applicable engineering, industry and ENMAX Corporation standards, codes, regulations and public safety are applied in designsDesign, review, and approve indoor and outdoor substation drawings for construction and record documentation, including AC/DC schematics, equipment/panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and plan/elevation drawings.Prepare detailed and standard template Design & Construction Scopes of Work, Estimates and Bill of MaterialsProduce construction packages including design drawings, cable tables, drawing lists, detailed construction scopes of work, Bill of Materials and other required technical itemsPrepare commissioning and functional test templates and detailed documents for constructionEngineer of Record, providing professional authentication and accountability for deliverablesEnsure quality construction packages are developed and used to construct and maintain the substation assetsManage the QA/QC and performance management of drawings and construction packages and ensure high quality construction packages are issued for constructionEnsures project information is stored appropriately and that technical closeout of projects is completed in a timely mannerAssist the Project Manager in lessons learned and close-out reporting activitiesAssist in the development and review of design guidelines and standardsInvestigate design alternatives and initiate & follow through on change requests to standardsReview Design Requirements of major and minor equipment drawings and specificationsLiaise with project stakeholder groups with respect to design activitiesEducation Required:B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering with a P.Eng designation with APEGATraining and courses in areas of protection & control or outdoor equipment layout design would be considered a strong assetQualifications:4 minimum years’ experience with an electric utility, the majority of which in the area of substation design and constructionDemonstrated technical proficiency in designing substation drawings including AC & DC schematics, equipment/panel layout & wiring and outdoor substation equipment plan & elevation drawingsExperience implementing new ideas to improve existing methods and processesMust hold a valid driver’s license and be able to attend site visitsCompetencies:Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to convey information effectively and manage competing priorities.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, establish priorities, and consistently meet commitments and deadlines.High level of attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and quality of work.Proven ability to build collaborative relationships and effectively engage with stakeholders across various areas of the business.Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and decision-making within the scope of the role.Did we mention the ENMAX Advantage?We offer competitive compensation including a comprehensive flexible benefits program, non-downtown location that includes great building amenities such as free onsite fitness facility with programming geared to employee’s needs, onsite childcare centre (upon availability, offered from our ENMAX Place location 141 – 50 Ave. SE), free parking and much more.
