We are hiring a full-time, permanent Specialist, Consolidated Financial Reportingposition working out of Edmonton, AB.
We are seeking to hire an experienced financial reportingspecialist to join our Corporate Reporting team. As the Specialist, Consolidated Financial Reporting, you will report to the Manager, Consolidated Financial Reporting and will be accountable for supporting the preparation and coordinationof consolidated financial reporting deliverables including EPCOR Utilities Inc.’s consolidated financial statements as well asthe consolidation of EPCOR’s budgeted and forecastedfinancial results.
What you’d be responsible for
- Prepare quarterly consolidated financial statements in compliance with IFRS and internal accounting policies, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Support the end-to-end consolidated financial reporting process, maintaining alignment with corporate policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and assess changes to IFRS, providing quarterly summaries and insights to Senior Management on potential impacts.
- Research new and amended IFRS standards and contribute to the planning and execution of their implementation.
- Develop accounting position papers for new or complex issues and provide technical guidance to Business Units on challenging accounting matters.
- Assist with the annual review and continuous improvement of internal accounting policies, including drafting updates to reflect changes in IFRS.
- Prepare detailed quarterly consolidation working papers to support reported financial results and disclosures.
- Contribute to the preparation of consolidation schedules for budgeting and forecasting cycles.
- Crosstrain with other Finance team members to prepare the internal monthly consolidated financial results for Senior Management and prepare external information including EPCOR’s Management Discussion & Analysis.
- Crosstrain with other Finance team members for preparing ofintercompany elimination entries, GST, income tax, and deferred taxes entries and other transactions as required.
- Support audit activities by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries from internal and external auditors.
- Identify, track, and analyze accounting issues, evaluating their impact on consolidated reporting and internal controls.

What’s required to be successful
- Completion of a Degree or Diploma in Business, Finance or Accounting (or a related field) from a recognized post-secondary educational institute.
- Must possess aProfessional Accounting Designation.
- 5+ years professional accounting and reporting experience.
- 2+ years experience with external reporting for companies reporting under IFRS (preferably with consolidated reporting).
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other database/software tools.
- Solid understanding of IFRS and Regulatory accounting practices and policies.
- Demonstrated ability to identify process and procedure improvements and successfully implement change.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong attention to detail and excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, using tact and influence to drive alignment and achieve outcomes.
Assets we are considering:
- Experience with major financial applications systems (preferably Oracle Financial Application or Adaptive Insights).
- External audit experience with larger public companies and/or regulated utilities.
