Medivet Camborne practice first opened it’s doors over half century ago and is known for having knowledgeable, friendly people to look after their very loved pets.

We still have traditional values but we are looking to continue on our exciting adventure improving and being the best we can possibly be in every aspect of the veterinary practice.

We are a well-equipped first-opinion small animal practice and have a large refurbishment coming up this year to redelop the practice with a new ops theatre, prep room, x-ray etc meaning it is a very exciting time to be joining such a beautiful area and practice.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and loyal team. Our practice has a great client base who appreciate the personal service we provide.

You will have a fantastic team of Vets, Nurses, Receptionists, and a Practice Manager around you for support.

Our rolling rota allows for a great work / life balance which we feel is essential to allow time to enjoy the best things about living in idyllic Cornwall.

Our full-time position is based on a 4-day week and just 1 in 3 Saturday mornings along with no OOH.

Role Accountabilities

  • Perform a wide range of surgical procedures.
  • Conduct thorough pre and post-operative assessments.
  • D evelop treatment plans and provide clients with care instructions.
  • Utilise diagnostic laboratory, imaging and ultrasound testing .
  • Prescribe medication.
  • Promote preventative care by advocating and administering routine vaccinations and immunisations
  • Educate clients on positive lifestyle choices for their pets.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to members of the support team.
  • C ompliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain patients ’ medical records.

Your Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine (BVetMed) or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) .
  • Surgical skills for performing routine and complex procedures.
  • Knowledge of anaesthesia protocols and pain management.
  • Ability to provide compassionate care and ensure the well-being of animals.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and experience in using diagnostic equipment such as X-rays, ultrasounds, and blood analysers.
  • A bility to explain medical conditions and treatment plans clearly to clients with empathy and compassion.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with other veterinary professionals, including veterinary nurses and support staff.
  • Critical thinking skills to diagnose complex cases, make informed treatment decisions, handle emergency cases and provide critical care to animals.
  • Adherence to high ethical standards in veterinary practice.
