Job descriptionRail & Transit Co‑op Student (Fall 2026) Join WSP as a Rail & Transit Co‑op Student (Fall 2026) and gain hands‑on experience supporting the safety and reliability of major rail and transit systems. This role is designed for engineering university students who want real‑world exposure to transit projects while learning directly from industry professionals.
Your Impact
Learn how safety and risk management is applied to real rail and transit systems.
Support hazard identification and risk assessment activities, including maintaining hazard logs and tracking mitigation measures.
Assist with system safety analyses such as HAZID, SHA, FTA, and FMECA.
Help organize and review technical evidence and documentation used for safety assurance and compliance.
Contribute to System Safety Reports and Safety Case inputs under the guidance of experienced engineers.
Work alongside teams in Safety, RAM, Human Factors, Systems Engineering, and Design, gaining exposure to multidisciplinary collaboration.
The Skills That Set You Apart
Currently enrolled in a university engineering program (civil, mechanical, electrical, systems, or related).
Interest in rail, transit, transportation systems, or system safety.
Coursework or academic exposure to risk, safety, systems, or reliability concepts is an asset.
Strong attention to detail and interest in technical documentation and analysis.
Comfortable working in a team‑based, professional environment.
Curious, motivated, and eager to learn from hands‑on project experience.
Compensation AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $24.00 – $32.25 per hour MB & ON: $22.50 – $30.25 per hour NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $21.50 – $30.25 per hour
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The wage range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
