Job Overview:
ZenaTech is looking for a talented and versatile Screenwriter to join our creative team in Vancouver, BC. This role is will involve a writer who can move fluidly between formats, creating social scripts, brand documentary, and polished corporate narratives.
We need someone who understands how to hook an audience fast, how to tell a complex technology story simply, and how to write for the camera. You will work closely with our video production and marketing teams to develop scripts that are clear, engaging, and built to perform across every format and platform.
A strong portfolio of writing samples across multiple formats is required.
This is a full-time, on-site role in Vancouver, BC.
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate & Brand Storytelling:
- Write scripts for brand videos, product launches, company overviews, and executive communications.
- Translate complex technology concepts into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Develop messaging frameworks and script structures that align with ZenaTech’s brand voice and strategic goals.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy without losing audience engagement.
- Write scripts for customer testimonials, case study videos, and investor-facing content.
Social Media & Short-Form Scripts:
- Write punchy, fast-moving scripts for Reels, TikTok, Shorts, , and YouTube.
- Develop hooks and opening lines that stop the scroll and earn attention.
- Adapt long-form content into tight, platform-native short-form scripts without losing the core message.
- Stay current with social media trends, formats, and content styles to ensure scripts feel fresh and relevant.
- Write on-screen text, captions, and visual direction notes as part of the script.
Documenting Long-Form Video:
- Research, develop, and write scripts and treatments for long-form video content.
- Structure compelling narratives with strong story arcs, character perspectives, and emotional beats.
- Work with the production team to ensure scripts are practical, shootable, and aligned with available footage.
- Develop narration, voiceover scripts, and on-screen copy that complement visual storytelling.
Creative Collaboration & Process:
- Partner closely with the video production and marketing teams from concept through to final delivery.
- Participate in briefings, brainstorms, and creative reviews, contributing ideas beyond the written word.
- Manage multiple scripts and projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Incorporate feedback constructively and revise scripts efficiently through multiple rounds of review.
- Maintain a well-organised library of scripts, treatments, and approved messaging for ongoing reference.
Requirements:
- 3–5 years of professional screenwriting or video scriptwriting experience.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating writing across corporate, short-form social, and long-form formats.
- Proven ability to write for camera — understanding shot composition, pacing, and visual storytelling.
- Excellent research skills and ability to quickly understand and accurately represent technical subject matter.
- Outstanding written communication with a sharp eye for clarity, tone, and audience.
- Ability to adapt voice and style to suit different formats, platforms, and audiences.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Collaborative by nature, with a positive attitude toward feedback and iteration.
Nice to Have:
- Experience writing for technology, SaaS, or B2B brands.
- Familiarity with video production workflows and an understanding of what works on set.
- Experience with storyboarding or visual direction alongside scripts.
- Knowledge of SEO and how scripted content supports discoverability on YouTube and other platforms.
- Diploma or degree in Screenwriting, Film, Creative Writing, Communications, or a related field.
