Job description

Our Story & Purpose:

We’re Vancity, a member-owned credit union built on the principles of inclusion and social justice. Since 1946, our relentless commitment to these values has helped us challenge the status quo and break down barriers. We’ve made bold commitments to become net-zero by 2040 across all mortgages and loans, and we’re actively pursuing strategies in Indigenous banking and financial resilience for our members.

As the largest private sector Living Wage Employer in Canada, we’re proud to be consistently recognized as one of the country’s Top Employers. If you’re ready to join our team of 2,300 diverse individuals, access competitive rewards and benefits, and be part of a greater movement - apply today!

Your Role in Supporting Our Members:

As a Lead Investigator, Corporate Security, you will play a critical role in protecting Vancity’s people, assets, and organizational integrity. You will lead complex investigations into physical security incidents, internal threats, and employee misconduct while conducting enterprise‑wide risk assessments across our branch network. Bringing deep expertise in law enforcement or corporate security, you will act as a trusted subject matter expert, partnering with leaders and teams to strengthen prevention strategies, embed sustainable mitigation measures, and build a strong culture of safety and accountability across the organization.

This is a Full‑time, Permanent role based at our Vancity head office and will report directly to the Senior Manager, Corporate Security. While this position provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on‑site for events and business demands. As this role involves travel, a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are required.

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Leading enterprise‑wide assessments of physical security risks across branch locations
  • Conducting complex investigations into physical security incidents, internal threats, and employee misconduct
  • Synthesizing risk insights and presenting clear, actionable recommendations to senior leaders
  • Driving the execution of enterprise‑level physical security and internal threat mitigation strategies
  • Partnering with law enforcement and internal and external stakeholders during high‑impact incidents
  • Providing senior‑level presence through branch visits and direct engagement with employees
  • Leading security awareness, training, and capability‑building initiatives across the organization
  • Strengthening organizational preparedness by collaborating with business continuity and emergency response teams

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Completion of a post‑secondary education in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security Management, or a related field
  • A minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in law enforcement, corporate security, or complex investigations
  • Demonstrated experience leading sensitive, high‑impact investigations with sound judgment and discretion
  • Strong knowledge of physical security risk assessment methodologies and internal threat management practices
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and provide clear, strategic security advice
  • Experience working closely with law enforcement agencies and external security partners
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CPP, CFE, or equivalent security or investigative designations

Extra Skills That Set You Apart:

  • Experience within financial services or other highly regulated environments
  • Background in enterprise risk management or fraud and security programs
  • Advanced training in interview techniques or threat assessment

You’ll Thrive Here If You Are:

  • Judicious – trusted to manage highly sensitive investigations with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Analytical – skilled at identifying patterns, assessing risk, and translating insights into action.
  • Collaborative – effective at building strong relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Composed – calm and confident when responding to complex, high‑pressure security incidents.

We value lived experience, so if you are interested in this role, we encourage you to apply even if you feel your skills don't perfectly align with those listed.

What You’ll Earn:

This role offers a salary range of $86,400 to $116,800 per annum. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.

Why You’ll Love Working Here:

A career at Vancity is more than just a job, you’re joining a tradition of change-makers who are creating lasting change for our communities. Beyond base pay, we offer a comprehensive total rewards package to ensure our employees are empowered to thrive:

  • Living Wage Employer: We’re the largest private-sector Living Wage Employer in Canada and consistently ranked among Canada’s Top Employers.
  • Customizable Benefits: Permanent employees receive flexible benefit packages that can be tailored annually to meet evolving needs.
  • Generous Vacation: New employees start with 3-4 weeks of vacation per year, with additional days earned over time.
  • Extra Stat Holidays: In addition to BC’s 11 statutory holidays, we offer 2 extra days, plus care days for personal or family illness.
  • Immediate Health Coverage: Health and dental benefits begin on your hire date, with three levels of coverage to choose from.
  • Defined Benefit Pension: Our retirement plan provides a guaranteed income for life, recognizing that retirement looks different for everyone.
