Job description
HR Director: The Builder Professional Staffing is excited to partner with a real estate development company based in Edmonton to hire an HR Director. Most senior HR roles are about maintaining an established system. This is different. We are looking for an HR leader who wants to actually build the department, not just manage it. The opportunity is with a real estate development company based in Edmonton. They have a solid, long-tenured team and a culture that has worked well on its own. As they grow, it’s time to shift from doing things organically to having a real plan. They need a builder to create the foundation - not to change a culture that’s already working, but to give it the structure it needs to stay that way as the company progresses. Ownership: As the foundational HR hire, you will own the following areas: - Complete jurisdiction over the firm’s first official HR roadmap, including the design and configuration of policies, pay structures, and benefit strategies. - Leadership of recruitment strategy, training, Learning and Development, and succession planning. - Creation of a substantive, data-driven framework for decision-making through the development and tracking of KPIs. - Formalization of how the company configures contracts and service agreements while ensuring strict adherence to employment laws. - Management of the internal HR and office functions, providing neutral mentorship and conflict resolution as issues arise. Required Qualifications: - CPHR designation or designation in progress. - Bachelor's degree in HR or Business Administration, or related field. - 5+ years in HR, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. - Proven comfort with creating systems from scratch rather than operating within pre-existing ones. - Executive communication skills with the professional presence required to present to a C-Suite and the expertise to field inquiries with confidence. - Strong analytical background with a history of turning business needs into organized, measurable solutions. Attributes: - You derive satisfaction from designing processes and reporting frameworks rather than executing repetitive cycles. - Professional stability and high emotional intelligence; you have the grounded presence required to establish credibility and build trust with a long-tenured team. - You perform well within a defined scope and clear accountability. - You possess the builder mindset and do not want to manage from 30,000 feet; you enjoy designing systems from the ground up. - Level-headed and approachable, maintaining a high level of trust while formalizing discipline and structure. Compensation & Perks: - $120,000 – $140,000 base salary - Annual discretionary bonus - 3+ weeks’ vacation - Paid personal days and ongoing training/development opportunities - 100% company-paid benefits plan plus a Health Spending Account (HSA) - RRSP matching, paid parking, and partnership incentives through a network of vendors and tenants
