Position Overview Karma Legal Professional Corporation is seeking an energetic and driven Junior Lawyer with a strong focus in Family Law to join its fast-paced practice in Vaughan, Ontario. This is a full-time, in-person role requiring the candidate to work from the office. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in family law litigation, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to independently manage files and clients. Experience or exposure to other areas of law—such as Real Estate, Immigration, or Civil and Commercial Litigation—is preferred and will be considered a strong asset. Key Responsibilities - Provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of family law matters - Independently manage family law files from intake to resolution - Represent clients in court proceedings, including case conferences, motions, and hearings relating to divorce, custody, access, and support - Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and separation agreements - Conduct legal research to support case strategies and arguments - Negotiate settlements and attend mediations on behalf of clients - Communicate directly with clients, ensuring professionalism, responsiveness, and trust - Maintain strict client confidentiality and high ethical standards - Contribute, where applicable, to files in other practice areas such as Real Estate, Immigration, or Civil and Commercial Litigation Qualifications - Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent law degree - Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario - Minimum of 1+ year experience handling Family Law matters, with litigation exposure preferred - Proven ability to independently handle files and manage client relationships - Strong knowledge of Ontario family law legislation, procedures, and court processes - Experience or familiarity with additional practice areas is preferred - Proficiency in legal research and drafting, with experience using tools such as LexisNexis - Strong negotiation and advocacy skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills Skills & Competencies - Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage a high-volume workload and meet deadlines - High level of attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with the ability to quickly learn new legal software systems - Ability to multi-task, take detailed notes, and manage competing priorities - Professional, client-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills - Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team Additional Requirements - This is an in-person position based in Vaughan, Ontario - The selected candidate must be able to reliably commute to or relocate to the office location (Concord, ON L4K 3T8) - Valid Certificate of Good Standing required Compensation - Salary range: $60,000 – $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience Application Process Interested candidates are invited to submit a cover letter, resume, and a writing sample to: info@karmalpc.com
