Communications Coordinator

As a Communications Coordinator, you will help keep employees connected to what matters across Western. You will write and publish engaging internal communications, support signature employee moments through internal meetings and events, and measure what resonates so we can keep improving. Working closely with the Marketing and Communications team, you will help build awareness, understanding, and connection across the organization. Here is what a typical day looks like
- Write, edit, and deliver internal communications that support employee engagement, culture, and corporate priorities across a variety of established internal channels.
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of internal meetings and employee events, including communications support, scheduling, logistics coordination, and follow-up.
- Provide content support and execution of the internal bi-weekly employee newsletter, along with other communications as assigned.
- Support content updates and document maintenance on the WestConnect intranet, ensuring information is current, accurate, and aligned with brand standards.
- Monitor, triage, and execute requests from the Internal Communications mailbox in line with established service guidelines.
- Support the measurement and evaluation of internal communications campaigns and events using tools such as Google Analytics and Staffbase or Bananatag.
- Assist with post-event feedback collection and summary insights to inform future improvements and support reporting to stakeholders.
- Contribute to the team’s reputation as a trusted partner by collaborating closely with stakeholders and business leaders across the organisation.
The value you bring
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to grammar, copywriting, and proofreading.
- Proven experience in corporate communications, preferably with a focus on internal communications and employee engagement.
- Post-secondary education in Communications or a related field, with a solid understanding of communications principles and best practices.
- Experience or a passion for supporting internal meetings or events, including coordination, communications, or logistics, is considered an asset.
- A relationship builder who can work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and build trust through professionalism, confidence, and reliability.
- A self-starter and continuous learner who takes initiative and looks for opportunities to improve processes, templates, and ways of working.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- A consistent focus on quality, accuracy, and follow-through.
- Tech savvy with the ability to learn new platforms quickly.
- Knowledge of SharePoint is preferred.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is required.
