Job descriptionAbout the Company: Velocity Bolting is a high-growth engineered products company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. We solve the hardest bolting challenges in the world by developing innovative mechanical solutions for critical applications where joint integrity, reliability, and performance matter. We’re a gritty startup, but we’re past the “idea stage.” We have real product–market fit, customers around the world, and growing traction across multiple industries. Our work sits at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and real-world industrial application - where problems are hard, constraints are real, and solutions actually matter. As we grow, we’re focused on building a team that: - Works collaboratively to solve complex problems - Cares about building a sustainable, long-term business - Takes pride in doing high-quality work - Genuinely enjoys working together along the way This is not a grind-for-the-sake-of-grinding culture. We believe in working hard on meaningful problems, supporting each other, and building something we’re proud of together. About the Role: We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support new product development and engineering innovation efforts. This role is focused on real-world R&D. You will take concepts from idea through to prototype, testing, and refined design. You will work directly with senior leadership on technically challenging projects involving mechanical and hydraulic systems, bolted joint integrity, and engineered products. This is not a maintenance or production role. It is an opportunity to contribute to high-impact engineering work in a focused, technically driven environment. What You’ll Do: - Develop 3D CAD models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks (or similar) - Translate engineering concepts into manufacturable designs - Design and support fabrication of prototypes and test fixtures - Plan and execute mechanical testing and validation activities - Perform engineering calculations and basic analysis (hand calcs + FEA as needed) - Document designs, revisions, and test results clearly and professionally - Coordinate with machine shops, vendors, and suppliers - Iterate quickly on designs based on test results and engineering feedback What We’re Looking For: Required - Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent) - Minimum 2 years of experience in product development or R&D - Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred) - Strong dimensioning, tolerancing, and GD&T skills for manufacturable drawings - High attention to detail and pride in producing accurate, complete, and professional engineering work - Deep understanding of mechanical design fundamentals - Ability to move from concept to detailed design with minimal supervision - Clear written and verbal communication skills (English) Preferred - Experience with bolted joint design, fasteners, or joint integrity - Familiarity with ASME PCC-1 or similar standards - Hands-on experience building, assembling, or testing hardware - Exposure to manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, etc.) - Experience working in fast-paced or early-stage product environments How You Work: - You are hands-on: you’ve built and tested real hardware - You are comfortable with ambiguity and evolving requirements - You move quickly, iterate often, and learn from testing - You take ownership of your work and follow through to completion - You care about producing clean, professional engineering outputs What Makes This Role Different: - Direct involvement in new product R&D, not maintenance engineering - Small, focused team with high technical standards - Opportunity to work on innovative mechanical solutions - High visibility and impact on real engineering outcomes - Early-stage employee to help grow our future across a global audience Culture & Values: We care deeply about the culture we’re building and are intentional about who we bring into the business. We’re looking for someone who brings: - Authenticity – you show up as yourself - Kindness – you treat teammates, partners, and clients with respect - Excellence – you care about doing things well - Integrity – doing the right thing, even when no one is watching You’ll be joining a collaborative, supportive team that values trust, communication, and shared momentum.
