Job Profile
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design and optimization of our in-house manufactured equipment. They will be project focused and part of a small interdisciplinary design team with accountability to the Mechanical Engineering Manager for review and guidance.
This position is covering a maternity leave.

Job Duties
- Create, upgrade and optimize equipment designs/processes to support DFI operations
- Take part in research and development initiatives
- Investigate equipment failure and provide solutions
- Research and review vendor proposals and technical documentation (drawings, calculations, datasheets, etc.)
- Create models, carry out FEA studies, create part and assembly drawings
- Create documents and equipment manuals
- Revise designs, drawings, and schematics as needed
- Create as-built drawings for existing equipment
- Collaborate with the manufacturing group throughout the build process
Qualifications
- University Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer Designation or qualified to become a professional engineer is an asset
- Experience in a custom manufacturing environment
- Experience with 3D modeling required, Inventor experience is an asset
- Strong aptitude for teamwork
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and projects with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
