About the Role
Salary Grade: 214 From: $106,460.91
As a Crisis Intervention Counselor, you will provide critical, immediate support to individuals affected by traumatic incidents in the workplace. You will offer crisis counselling, assessment, and referrals to promote recovery and resilience. By joining the WSIB, you’ll be part of a collaborative team dedicated to helping workers, employers, and families during times of urgent need.
What You’ll Do
• Deliver immediate crisis intervention, supportive counselling, and debriefing to individuals and groups affected by workplace trauma, injury, or loss
• Conduct thorough risk assessments and safety planning for clients experiencing acute stress, trauma, or suicidal ideation
• Develop and implement individualized intervention plans based on best practices in crisis and trauma counselling
• Provide information, guidance, and referrals to internal and external resources to support client recovery and well-being
• Collaborate with the WSIB staff, external service providers, employers, and community agencies to coordinate care
• Maintain detailed, confidential, and accurate documentation of all client interactions and interventions
• Deliver educational workshops and training sessions on crisis management, mental health, and resilience-building strategies
• Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to the advancement of crisis intervention services within the WSIB.
Who You Are
Education
• University completion at undergraduate level with a specialty focus in Psychology, Sociology, Nursing, Social Work, Thanatology or a related discipline with advanced Certificate in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing or a Certificate in Trauma Management, and a certificate or diploma in Grief/Bereavement Counselling.
• Valid Ontario G class driver's license.
Experience
• Two years prior experience in trauma management.
