Your Opportunity:
3F3 is an 18+ bed unit providing care to Orthopedic and General Surgery patients received from the operating room, emergency department, intensive care unit and directly from home and/or surgery clinics. The 3F3 Health Care Aide assists with the delivery of quality patient care in the area by feeding patients, assisting with lifting and transferring patients, gathering and maintaining equipment and restocking supplies as necessary. Must be able to work as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals.
Required Qualifications: Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide, along with proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.
Additional Required Qualifications: Healthcare Provider certification required. Member of the Heath Care Aide directory. Ability to work quickly and efficiently with minimal supervision. Must be able to work with and communicate effectively with team members. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) preferred. Basic computer skills required. Ability to lift 25-50 pounds, must not have current activity restrictions, such as pulling, pushing, reaching and bending. The candidate must have proficiency in Connect Care documentation. Rotation subject to change.
Preferred Qualifications: Acute care hospital experience preferred. Note: Rotation subject to change.
