Compensation: CAD 100,000 - CAD 140,000 - yearly
As the successful candidate, you will:
Mechanical engineering with an emphasis on the design development, design review and technical reporting of infrastructure systems, including fire and life safety systems and tunnel ventilation systems for transit systems.
Supports the design and support of systems analyses for tunnel fires and personal safety.
Preparation of technical reports in various engineering phases, design development, construction design, design reports and technical analysis.
Participating in meetings with different disciplines and the client.
Assumes some project management tasks and responsibilities to track and forecast project performance, deliverables, and schedule.
Performs design calculations and ensures plans are compliant with codes and standards.
Support BIM and design teams in preparing required drawings for projects at different phases.
Understand calculations to produce study plans, specifications, and reports.
Build good relationships with clients and maintain regular industry liaison.
Develop your professional profile through publications in engineering journals.
Qualifications
BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Ability to travel to clients and job sites and be willing to attend meetings after regular business hours – some travel may be required.
A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and higher education will be an asset to the candidate.
4+ years of experience in mechanical design and CFD modelling.
Familiarity with ventilation equipment specification, controls, and fire life safety codes and standards (NFPA, AMCA, ASHRAE) with emphasis on NFPA 130 and NFPA 502 preferred.
Familiarity with local codes and standards.
Familiarity with Building Codes and NFPA standards.
Good verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of common office software.
Self-motivated and experienced in performing calculations and delivering quality work.
SES and BIM experience will be an asset to the candidate.
Demonstrated abilities to work within project timeframes and budget constraints.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
To work alone or in a team under minimum supervision.
Be able to understand and achieve cost, quality, and timeline goals.
Ability to maintain good business relations with the various parties involved.
Time management skills and good adaptation to change.
Strong communication skills and good interpersonal relationships in complex and changing environments.
Fundamental technical engineering knowledge and strong problem-solving skills.
