We’re hiring experienced Tailings Operators to join our Coarse Tailings Operations team in Fort McMurray. Minimum Requirements:
Three or more years of experience as a tailings cell dozer operator; experience in an oil sands mine is preferred
Experience operating mechanical equipment such as pumps, light plants and hydraulic power units would be an asset
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Responsibilities:
Adhere to all safety and environmental requirements while maintaining a high standard of housekeeping in the assigned area
Safely operate tailings heavy equipment (including D8 cell dozer, line patrol, forks, backhoe, grader, transporter, and/or fuel truck) to support efficient operations
Perform tailings cell construction and maintenance in both summer and winter conditions, including dyke maintenance, nipple pipe installation/removal, track packing, and spill box monitoring
Prepare tailings pedestals for future cell construction by drying dykes, building ramps, and reading and interpreting survey stakes
Complete equipment inspections and logbooks, communicate significant changes to the team lead, and ensure clear communication during shift handovers
Perform tailings line switches with clear communication to the control room specialist and execute equipment isolations to support maintenance activities
Location and other Key Details:
You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta
The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)
This position is safety sensitive
