Responsibilities
As a member of the School of Trades and Transportation faculty team, you will:
- Provide theoretical and practical instruction in various apprentice and pre-apprentice program(s) within the School of Trades and Transportation at Akerley Campus. Casual faculty may be required to support the following programs currently offered at Akerley Campus:Auto Body and Collision RepairAutomotive Service and RepairCarpentryCNC MachiningGas TechnicianHeavy Duty Equipment/ Truck and Transport RepairHeavy Duty Equipment RepairMetal FabricationPower Engineering TechnologyPrecision MachiningRefrigeration and Air ConditioningSheet Metal SystemsTruck and Transport RepairWelding
- Collaboratively design and deliver educational experiences for a diverse group of learners. This will include preparation, instruction, assessment, and evaluation of students using a broad range of flexible teaching and learning practices and technologies such as Learning Management Systems (e.g., Brightspace) and classroom technology.
- Collaborate with faculty and other colleagues to inform your teaching and learning practices, to refine curriculum, and to support student success.
- Ensure health and safety practices and procedures are followed in your classroom, shops, and labs.
- Maintain currency with the latest industry practices relevant to your program and continually develop your teaching and learning practices.
- This position may involve different delivery modalities (e.g., in-class, online, blended online/in-class), off-site instruction and alternate work hours such as weekends and evenings.

Qualifications
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for these positions are a valid Red Seal certification in a specific trade that matches the opportunity where the faculty need is.
- You have a minimum of five years (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience related to your red seal trade.
- You have demonstrated experience liaising with business and industry in your field.
- Proficient with computer applications such as Microsoft Office, email, multimedia tools, and various platforms for engaging students in online and blended learning environments.
- The ability to effectively teach in online and blended settings would be an asset, including:Understanding and building knowledge of best practices for delivering and management of courses delivered whole or in part online.Using a course management system to communicate with students and manage course content.Fostering and supporting a collaborative online learning community among students.
- Applicants must be willing to participate in training if they do not have prior experience with online or blended teaching models.
- Ideally, you have related experience in delivery of educational programs or training to adults.
- Occupational experience that includes experience in providing performance feedback will be considered an asset.
- You have knowledge and experience in applying WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety and occupation-specific safety practices.
