The Ministry of Children and Family Services funds programs and services to support vulnerable children, youth, families, and individuals to live safely and succeed in Alberta.
We are seeking a strategic thinker to coordinate ministry-wide business planning, performance measurement, and public accountability processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Ministry Business Planning & Strategic Alignment: Coordinate the full ministry business planning cycle, develop strategic and business plans, and ensure alignment with GoA standards.
- Drive Reporting, Performance Measurement & Public Accountability: Lead the development of major accountability documents, support performance metrics development.
- Facilitate Engagement & Strategic Conversations with Leadership: Organize and facilitate planning sessions with senior and executive leadership.
- Provide Expert Advice on Strategy, Planning, and Evaluation: Offer technical guidance and conduct complex analysis to support decision‑making.
- Build Strong Internal & External Collaboration Networks: Establish relationships across ministries and cross‑government working groups to ensure consistency.
- Support Team Operations & Capacity Building: Provide day‑to‑day support, coach colleagues, represent the team on committees, and step in for the Manager as needed.

Qualifications
University graduation in a related field (Public Administration, Business Administration, Communication, Social Services) plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent experience.
Equivalencies
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education; or 1 year of education for 1 year of experience.
Assets
- Strong knowledge of strategic, business, and operational planning theories and practices.
- Skilled in conducting qualitative and quantitative research, applying sound methodologies, data analysis, and synthesizing findings.
- Demonstrated understanding of project management principles and ability to manage complex projects.
- Culturally aware and sensitive to the needs of diverse client groups, including Indigenous communities.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 and related tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week.
