Alberta Infrastructure provides public infrastructure that contributes to the province’s economy and Albertans’ quality of life. The ministry is accountable for the long-term planning of provincial public infrastructure to support key social programs and services and economic development. It designs, builds, manages and maintains government‑owned and operated facilities and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that school and health infrastructure meets the needs of all Albertans now and in the future. It is also responsible for alternative ways to finance and deliver infrastructure projects including public‑private partnerships.
Reporting to the Deputy Minister, you will be the main point of contact for the Deputy Minister’s Office (DMO) and act as the liaison and key resource for strategic support, advice and assistance to ministry staff, the Minister’s Office (MO) and Minister’s Chief of Staff, Executive Council and other ministry DMOs. As a trusted advisor to the DM, you will contribute to the overall planning and strategic direction for the ministry by providing the interface between the political and operational functions of the ministry and Minister’s Office.
Your success in the role will be demonstrated through effective leadership ensuring ministry initiatives align with government priorities in support of Executive Team and Assistant Deputy Ministers. You play a pivotal role in ministry‑wide policy synchronization, managing high profile/sensitive issues, and extensive interaction with industry; Agencies, Boards and Commissions; and external service providers. Your exceptional communication skills and influence will lend to strong networks and relationships with complex stakeholders and partners. Key areas of coordination across the ministry include capital planning, procurement, property management and major project delivery. You have experience leading professional teams, and you demonstrate an understanding of government and department priorities.
Qualifications
Success in this role calls for a progressive leader with a background including significant related senior management leadership experience in an executive environment. You bring a strong systems thinking lens, an understanding of policy and legislation, significant project management as well as issues management to the role. Your exceptional interpersonal skills will support your ability to work effectively with diverse, complex stakeholders to manage broad expectations and interests. You have demonstrated skills and ability to collaborate and influence others across multiple areas without direct authority. You have a high degree of political acuity, are agile, and solutions‑oriented. A respected leader with experience leading staff, you are committed to building strong lines of communication and trust as well as empowering your teams to achieve results through performance excellence. Related post‑secondary education is required.
Salary: $5,896.65 - $7,749.28 bi‑weekly ($153,902.57 - $202,256.21 annually)
