The Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) is seeking One Permanent Crown Prosecutors to join the Calgary Rural and Regional Response Office (CaRRRO). In this role, you will play a vital role in serving the public interest while working on diverse, challenging, and impactful cases within a supportive and fast-paced environment. As a Crown Prosecutor, you will help deliver justice through fearless, fair, and effective prosecutions. The role encompasses a broad range of prosecutorial responsibilities, including bail hearings, charge screening, early case resolution, alternative measures, determining whether to proceed to trial or discontinue a prosecution, conducting prosecutions, entering stays of proceedings, withdrawing charges, plea resolution, providing disclosure, electing to proceed summarily or by indictment, taking positions on sentencing, drafting legal opinions and briefings, working with victims, witnesses, and police, and initiating appeals. Ensure the public interest is served and a just result is obtained. Provide the Court with evidence and legal argument that is fair, accurate, and complete. Conduct assigned prosecutions of serious and complex cases in a highly competent manner. Work effectively with victims of crime and their families. The Ideal Candidate Demonstrates

The ability to draft legal opinions, briefing materials, and court documents professionally and appropriately. Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with justice system stakeholders. A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD), and active membership or immediate eligibility for membership with the Law Society of Alberta is required. Crown Prosecutor 1: a minimum of 0-4 years legal experience is required. Crown Prosecutor 2: a minimum of 4 years legal experience is required. Crown Prosecutor 3: a minimum of 11 years legal experience is required. Other requirement

For Law degrees obtained outside Canada, proof of accreditation from the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) is

required. A valid Alberta Motor Vehicle Operators License and travel within the province. Asset

Experience in Criminal Litigation. In addition to your resume, please include a cover letter briefly outlining your criminal law experience

These opportunities are located in Calgary. The Hours of Work are 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Travel within Alberta to circuit court locations is a requirement for this role. Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo security screening. Any costs associated with obtaining the required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses, will be the responsibility of the candidate. This competition may be used to fill future permanent, temporary, full time and part time vacancies. Successful candidate(s) may be eligible for relocation expenses up to $10,000.00.
