JOB SUMMARY:
The employee in this classification is responsible to inspect installations and equipment on residential, commercial and industrial premises. This position is also responsible for conducting investigations and auditing functions, providing recommendations and enforcing corrective actions regarding substandard findings non-compliance.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Provide oversight and direction on all technical aspects of installation and operating requirements
• Ensure appropriate work is completed in compliance with industry plans, standards, specifications, special requirements, codes and regulations
• Approve materials, confirm specifications, conduct visual and measurement tests and reject unacceptable materials findings and approve and confirm re-work
• Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, inputting data into corporate database
• Ensure employees and contractors possess appropriate qualifications, licences
• Inspect accidents, incidents, violations and consumer complaints
• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following and communicating standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
• Supervise employee, contractor and public work as required by the position
• Provide information and respond to inquiries from employees, contractors and the general public regarding assigned projects
• Collect, administer and maintain fees, permits, inspections and examinations as required
• Use excellent customer service skills and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable codes and standards, regulations, equipment and associated technology associated with the position
• Use hand-held tools and electronic devices to perform job duties
• Resolve conflicts within scope of authority
• Participate in continuous educational and professional development as required
• Interprovincial travel, as required
• Other related duties, as assigned
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificate in Welding, or equivalent
• Certified Class 1 Licensed Inspector for Boilers, Pressure Vessels and Pressure Piping (Licensed Pressure Equipment Inspector Certificate) and valid Saskatchewan Class 1 Pressure Equipment Inspector License, or equivalent
• Successful completion of SaskPower Quality Control competency modules within 24 months
• Successful completion of Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) ACORN Level 1 Textbook Exams and Modules 12, 14, and 17 from the CWB Modular Learning System within 24 months, or equivalent AND;
• Five (5) years of related experience in an industrial setting, or equivalent
• Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position

• Ability to deal with conflict and recommend solutions to difficult situations
• Ability to work independently and deal with confidential information in a discreet manner
• Excellent computer skills with proficiency in the use of the corporations standard software
• Ability to deal effectively and cooperatively with others
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
