Job descriptionSenior Water Quality Modeller Based in Vancouver, Calgary, or Edmonton, you will join a highly respected team of more than 20 water quality scientists and engineers known for technical excellence and regulatory credibility.
Responsibilities
Lead water quality modelling and assessment programs for large, complex mining and environmental projects.
Direct model development, calibration, validation, and interpretation to support environmental assessments and regulatory submissions.
Oversee multiple projects to ensure technical quality, schedule adherence, and budget performance.
Design and supervise field programs, including baseline, operational, aquatic effects, and construction monitoring.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to secure environmental permits, water licences, and regulatory approvals.
Mentor and develop junior and intermediate staff, strengthening both technical and consulting capabilities.
Act as a senior technical representative with clients, regulators, and stakeholders, including participation as an expert witness when required.
Qualifications
A university degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, or a related discipline (M.Sc. or higher preferred).
10+ years of progressive experience in water quality modelling and environmental assessment.
Advanced knowledge of multiple water quality modelling software platforms.
Strong familiarity with Canadian environmental assessment and permitting processes, particularly within mining.
Demonstrated experience managing projects, reviewing deliverables, and leading technical teams in a consulting environment.
Proven ability to communicate complex technical information clearly through reports, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.
A collaborative mindset, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $110,600 – $146,500
MB & ON: $100,900 – $139,000
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $99,900 – $132,700
The final salary awarded for this role may vary above range based on factors including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
