This role exists to stabilize production, improve efficiency, develop people, and reduce risk in a hands‑on, people‑centric way!

Key Areas of Responsibility
Own daily plant productivity, labour deployment, and material efficiency
Balance throughput, staffing, maintenance windows, and quality requirements
Identify bottlenecks and make real‑time trade‑off decisions
Reduce overtime, scrap, rework, and avoidable downtime
Production Scheduling, Order Tracking & Flow
Manage order tracking and daily production scheduling
Provide feedback and recommend scheduling or process improvements
Coordinate production sequencing to support delivery commitments
Communicate schedule changes clearly to stakeholders
Inventory & Material Flow
Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager on inventory setup and controls
Manage floor‑level material handling, WIP, and inventory accuracy
Prevent material shortages, excess stock, and production delays
Improve material flow and visibility across the plant
Safety & Proactive Maintenance
Support and reinforce OH&S practices on the floor
Lead by example in safe work planning and execution
Coordinate proactively with Maintenance to reduce breakdowns
Integrate maintenance planning into production schedules
Leadership & People Management
Lead supervisors, leads, and operators with clarity and consistency
Set expectations around performance, attendance, quality, and conduct
Partner with HR on performance management and employee relations matters
Coach and develop future supervisors and leaders
Quality Management & Manufacturing Knowledge
Ensure products are manufactured accurately and to specification
Understand how processes work — not just what the outputs are
Reduce quality escapes, scrap, rework, and customer issues
Treat quality as part of production, not a downstream check
Simplify processes and reduce firefighting
Engage operators in identifying and solving problems
Use data to support improvement decisions
Provide input into CAPEX planning and asset improvement needs
Identify opportunities to improve reliability, safety, or capacity
Understand equipment condition and long‑term risks
Qualifications & Experience University‑level degree in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent technical discipline required, including P.Eng. or Six Sigma certification
Proven leadership of production teams and supervisors on the shop floor
Strong grasp of production scheduling, labour planning, and material flow
Experience enforcing safety programs in an industrial or regulated environment
Comfortable with production KPIs
Applied Lean or continuous improvement experience
Experience coordinating with in-house engineering or drafting teams
Experienced in managing full Predictive/Preventative Program
Experience and/or Academic background in Change Management and/or Organizational Behaviour an asset
PMP or Project Management background/academic accreditation an asset
Ability to control, report, and have total agency over their relative area of the Income Statement, and experience reporting this directly to the President, COO, or CEO
5+ years in a metal fabrication, structural steel or industrial production environment is an asset
Hands‑on understanding of fabrication processes; welding, cutting, bending, forming, and finishing is an asset
