Job descriptionBased at the Head Office in Calgary, Alberta, the Vice President, Turf Canada (“Vice President”) is a critical leadership role with P&L responsibility for 6 locations across Canada with oversight of approximately 85 employees through two direct reports.
Reporting directly into the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President will be responsible for ensuring the organization is highly profitable and sustainable by leveraging the strategic allocation of human, financial and physical resources and through the establishment of strategy, policies, measurable processes and structure. The Vice President will provide leadership and drive accountability and performance in the execution of a long‑term strategic plan that will take advantage of significant growth opportunities, including M&A activity, as well as manage the working capital efficiency and profitability of the business during an expected sustained period of growth. With a focus on driving sustainable business performance, the Vice President will continue to accelerate the growth of the business, driving operational excellence, managing and growing existing mature markets, extending product lines and penetrating new geographies.
In addition to pursuing organic growth initiatives, the Vice President will have experience in executing against accretive M&A opportunities and effectively integrating acquired businesses to capture synergies and deliver business results. The Vice President will continue to drive a high‑performance culture while ensuring the retention and engagement of strong performers with a path to continued success for themselves and the business as a whole.
Critical to success in this role will be the individual’s proven P&L general management experience gained by running a business of similar scale and complexity, coupled with a strategic growth mindset, superior business acumen, customer orientation and people‑focused leadership style. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership skills operating in similarly complex, multi‑unit or dealer‑based organizations with a proven track record of growing teams and business results. An accomplished operator with strong communication skills and a hands‑on approach, the Vice President is an authentic, customer‑centric and highly credible leader who will develop trust with stakeholders internally and externally with ease.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Own regional P&L, delivering on revenue, margin and EBITDA targets.
Develop budgets, forecasts and business plans aligned with enterprise objectives.
Provide leadership, direction and development to the management team to ensure achievement of organizational and personal goals.
Define and execute regional growth and profitability strategy.
Evaluate performance of the organization in meeting objectives and determine where costs can be reduced, what can be improved and what should be changed.
Confer with cross‑functional business leaders internally to discuss issues, coordinate activities, and resolve problems.
Take corrective action to solve organizational challenges and external issues impacting client service.
Ensure performance plans are set, maintained and continuously improved.
Generate creative solutions to identify improvements in processes.
Shape the culture and impact morale positively.
Drive effective post‑acquisition integration, including ERP and system consolidation, workforce optimization, process harmonization and cultural alignment.
Create innovative ways to market products and services to potential customers; Drive sales strategies, customer growth, and OEM/vendor partnerships.
Identify and establish new opportunities to grow the business through organic growth initiatives and potential M&A activity.
Standardize processes, reporting and service delivery across locations.
Serve as the primary regional representative to leadership, ensuring field insights inform corporate strategy.
Always positively represent the company through a success‑oriented and professional demeanor.
Put a strategic succession plan in place to ensure a robust leadership pipeline as the business continues to scale.
Lead, mentor and develop managers and staff, building a high‑performance, customer‑first culture.
Ensure compliance with legal, financial, and corporate governance requirements.
