Job Summary Construction Project Coordinator to support the Real Property Planning and Management Branch. Responsible for coordinating multiple construction projects and contracts, ensuring compliance with tender documents, industry best practices, and all safety and building codes. Acts as the eyes and ears and spokesperson for the Project Manager who holds overall responsibility for the project.
Responsibilities
Coordinate multiple projects and contracts simultaneously while ensuring work is completed according to tender documents and best practices.
Ensure industry best practices, safety, and building codes are respected.
Communicate with contractors, consultants, and clients and support the Project Manager.
Provide status updates, scope definitions, and work packages for construction or retrofit projects (RFQ, SOW, tender packages).
Define construction sequencing and review constructability.
Qualifications & Screening Criteria
College diploma in Architectural, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Relevant trade license or certificate in construction management is considered an asset.
Significant (two to six years) and recent (within last two years) experience coordinating and providing oversight on multi‑trade construction projects.
Experience reading construction documentation and ensuring conformance to tender requirements.
Experience identifying and reviewing site‑specific hazards, developing or reviewing construction safety plans, and ensuring contractor adherence to federal and provincial safety standards.
Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders including clients, consultants and contractors.
Condition of Employment
Must possess physical capabilities to perform tasks such as crouching, bending, twisting, walking, climbing stairs and ladders.
Must obtain and retain a valid British Columbia Class 5 Driver’s License.
Reliability status verified over a five‑year period.
Assessment Criteria
Technical competencies: reading and interpreting construction drawings, knowledge of construction trades, regulations, safety acts, contract management, and coordinating contractor work.
Behavioral competencies: client focus, communication, initiative, results orientation, teamwork (all Level 2).
Compensation $66,126 to $91,012 per annum.
