We have an opening for a Collections Clerk to join our Civil and Commercial Litigation practice. While specialized training on the collections work being handled at our Firm will be provided, the ideal candidate will have a collections background, and will be a confident, organised, autonomous self-starter that is prepared to proactively work on files with the lawyers they support. We offer a very competitive compensation package with a potential for an additional commission structure.
Collections Clerk
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs all debt collection duties in collaboration with the recovery team
- Identifies strategies/solutions when dealing with challenging/ delinquent accounts
- Negotiates settlement agreements on behalf of large organisations
- Answers phone calls and follows up on inquiries regarding files assigned by the Supervisor
The successful candidate must have exceptional organisational skills and demonstrate the following:
- A minimum of 1-3 years experience working in a similar role
- Collection agency experience would be an asset
- Previous experience in a Litigation practice would be considered an asset, but is not necessary
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
- A calm but professional demeanor for dealing with clients regarding their accounts
- Ability to accurately listen, understand and respond appropriately
- Perseverance to maintain pressure for payment upon difficult accounts
- Detail oriented with strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to take initiative and work under pressure
- Ability to work and act independently using good judgment when assessing difficult situations
- Ability to work with large institutional clients an asset
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks would be considered an asset, training will be provided
