Job Summary:

Requirements:

  • Licensing: Valid 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Certification registered in the Skilled Trades of Canada.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in automotive, truck, or heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of fuel, ignition, cooling, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and air brake systems; ability to read hydraulic schematics.
  • Diagnostic Skills: Ability to utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and effectively diagnose defects.
  • Safety Commitment: Ability to successfully satisfy all company standards for safety-sensitive positions; deep knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
  • Reliability: Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and document repairs accurately.

Responsibilities:

  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance services and conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
  • Repair & Diagnostics: Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems; utilize vehicle computer electronic systems to initiate repairs.
  • Operational Support: Perform emergency breakdown service calls and complete repairs within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Documentation & Planning: Accurately document repairs, parts usage, and repair times using fleet maintenance software; review and complete repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs).
  • Parts Management: Estimate time and material costs for repairs and requisition necessary parts.
  • Facility Upkeep: Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area in strict accordance with Corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all established safety procedures and perform all work in a safe manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Assist in orienting and training apprentices as required, and effectively communicate maintenance needs to operations.
