Denison is seeking a Refrigeration Mechanic to support the operation and maintenance of the freeze plant systems at the Wheeler River Phoenix Site. This role is responsible for operating industrial refrigeration equipment, supporting commissioning activities, and maintaining reliable system performance as the project advances. This position will initially be based at our Saskatoon office and will later transition to a site-based, rotational (2-week on/2-week off) role at the Wheeler River Site in Northern Saskatchewan.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate refrigeration and brine distribution modules or “Freeze Plant” at the Wheeler River Phoenix site
- Lead and execute maintenance activities for refrigeration systems and wellfield freeze piping infrastructure
- Support the development and continuous improvement of operating procedures and maintenance plans
- Contribute to the development and implementation of standard operating procedures
- Lead the development of preventative maintenance plans and schedules for refrigeration systems
- Assist in identifying maintenance requirements and critical spare parts
- Monitor system performance, including compressors, chillers, condensers, and evaporators
- Respond to alarms and abnormal readings in real time
- Perform scheduled inspections and maintenance on refrigeration equipment
Requirements
You are a safety-focused refrigeration professional with experience operating and maintaining industrial refrigeration systems. You are comfortable contributing to the development of operating procedures and maintenance programs in an industrial environment. In addition, you bring:
- A Journeyperson Certificate in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic trade, combined with a Refrigeration Engineer certificate (strongly preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in industrial settings, including the development of operating procedures and maintenance plans
- Experience operating and maintaining large industrial ammonia compressor refrigeration systems
- Refrigeration plant commissioning experience
- Experience with DCS, SCADA, or PLC controlled systems
- Ground freezing experience is considered an asset
