Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and initiative-taking Construction Project Coordinator with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment to support the construction program of our Long-Term Care Redevelopment Projects.
The Project Coordinator will collaborate closely with the team of our Project Managers and collaborate with general contractors and internal stakeholders through all phases of the construction projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring quality assurance operational readiness and contractual compliance as projects near completion and transition into operations.
Under the direction of Extendicares Vice President Property Development & Construction assist with technical needs of the project construction team from construction project inception and through the resolution of post-construction issues across multiple active projects concurrently.
This role is based at our head office in Markham Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment. Some travel will be required.
Responsibilities:
Track construction deficiencies including punch lists site walkthroughs and inspection reports.
Manage all warrantyrelated issues across completed and active projects.
Attend deficiency inspections and verify corrective work.
Escalate persistent or unresolved issues to the Project Manager.
Coordinate periodic warranty followups to identify potential issues.
Assist in project closeout including finalizing paperwork passing on warranty information and facilitating project reviews.
Support the disposition program with Asset Management and Operations for homes closing due to redevelopment.
Liaise with contractors to ensure timely resolution of deficiencies and warranty items.
Act as the central point of contact for operations teams and contractors for warranty calls.
Ensure contractor responses align with contract requirements for deficiency and warranty items.
Obtain and manage consolidated deficiency lists from consultants contractors and operations.
Maintain warranty trackers monitor response times and validate completion of remedial work.
Update trackers to ensure visibility for Operations Asset Management and Project Managers.
Support project managers with documentation control and correspondence.
Schedule and attend meetings related to closeout deficiencies and warranty followups.
Assist in preparing status reports and project handover summaries.
Coordinate with internal and external procurement teams for FF&E deliveries and installation schedules.
What you bring to the role:
Postsecondary education in Construction Management Architecture Engineering or a related field.
2 years of experience in construction coordination or project administration preferably in healthcare senior living or institutional projects.
Experience managing deficiency logs warranty claims and closeout documentation across multiple projects.
Strong understanding of construction drawings specifications and project handover processes.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities with accuracy and consistency.
Solid communication skills and ability to work effectively within a project team
Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects with strong attention to detail.
Technical knowledge of construction processes drawings blueprints and industry standards.
Ability to interpret construction documents and coordinate project activities effectively.
Critical thinking skills to identify issues and support practical solutions.
Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with contractors and internal teams.
