Your Role in Supporting Our Members:

As the Database Engineer you will lead the administration reliability and performance of Vancitys mission-critical Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) database platforms. You will be accountable for ensuring these database services are secure highly available recoverable and operate at peak performance. Working closely with application infrastructure security and governance partners you will establish standards drive automation and provide expert-level technical leadership to reduce operational risk and improve member-facing service outcomes.

This is aâFull-time Permanent role based at our Head Office in Vancouver British Columbiaâand will report directly to the Manager Database Administration.

Our head office is based in Vancouver. While this position is for an existing vacancy and provides a hybrid work arrangement you will be expected to be on-site for events and business demands when needed.

How Youll MakeanImpact:

• Defining owning and enforcing database standards and policies and review designs to ensure optimal performance security and storage efficiency
• Operating and maintaining enterprise database platforms proactively and reactively ensuring performance availability reliability and security of businessâcritical systems.
• Evaluating and implementing new database technologies to meet evolving business and platform needs
• Coordinating database work across projects and operations supporting prioritization delivery planning and performance feedback to management
• Providing controlled database access to project teams ensuring compliance with privacy security and financial regulatory requirements
• Mentoring and coaching junior roles providing technical guidance and best practices to strengthen team capability

WhatYoullBring tothe Team:

• Bachelors degree in computer science or related technical discipline
• 5 years of industry experience in Database Administration in a high-volume Online Transaction Processing environment
• Required: In depth experience with Microsoft SQL Server
• Nice to have: Experience with Oracle MySQL PostgreSQL or other RDBMS
• Willingness to work in a highly flexible environment with multiple competing priorities
• Proven ability to innovate and adapt to the latest development in area of expertise
• Ability to adapt and grasp new skills

Extra Skills That Set You Apart:

• Preferred: Experience with PowerShell
• Preferred: Experience with migrating workloads to Cloud
• Nice to have: Experience with Microsoft Azure database technologies

What Youll Earn:

This role offers a salary range of$92700 to $114450 per annum. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications skills previous experience and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program subject to program eligibility requirements.
