Opportunity

Altea is not another big box gym. It's not a boutique studio. It's something the Canadian fitness industry hasn't seen before, and the numbers are starting to prove it.

We built this model by studying what the industry kept getting wrong. Clubs that forgot their members. Boutiques that couldn't scale. Operators who treated their people as a cost. We took those lessons seriously and built something different, putting genuine care for team and members into the actual operating model, not the values poster on the wall. The result is utilization, retention, and class attendance numbers that lead the industry.

We're growing deliberately across Canada. As we grow, the most important thing we'll do is put the right leaders in our clubs. That's why this role exists. If you've been excellent somewhere that wasn't quite worthy of your effort — keep reading.

What You’ll Lead

You will lead a full team of department heads across fitness, member experience, recovery, food and beverage, kids programming, and facilities. Club support sits behind you. The infrastructure is real.

Your primary job is to make the people around you better.

Both management and specialist growth tracks exist at Altea — because we know not everyone's path looks the same. We don't measure success by how many people you promoted. We measure it by how many people grew under your watch. When your leaders are excellent, your members feel it. When your team is proud of where they work, your members stay. That connection shows up in the numbers every single month.

Who You Are

Not the loudest in the room. Not the one who needs to own the idea. The one who makes everyone around them better without making it about themselves.

You lead from the floor. You give credit down and take accountability up. You are hungry for results, not recognition — and you take attrition numbers personally. You read a room. You know when someone on your team is off before they say anything. You bring emotional intelligence to a multi-disciplinary team every single day.

You are not here to rewrite the playbook. You are here to run it better than anyone else has. The best operators at Altea don't reinvent. They master.

What You’ll Own

  • Develop Your Leaders — Recruit well, coach consistently, build succession into the culture. Your team should be able to run at a high level whether you're in the building or not.
  • Protect the Experience — Every touchpoint reflects a standard. You protect it without micromanaging it and address gaps before they become patterns.
  • Run the Operation — Safety, compliance, facility presentation, opening and closing protocols. Not someone else's job. Yours.
  • Deliver the Numbers — Revenue, attrition, utilization, labour efficiency. You don't build the budget but you live inside it, hit your targets, and flag problems early.
  • Build the Brand Locally — You are Altea in your market. Reputation is built one interaction at a time and yours matters as much as any campaign.

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of senior operations leadership in a premium fitness, hospitality, or lifestyle environment
  • Experience leading department heads and teams of 100+
  • A genuine track record of developing people — not just managing them
  • Strong financial literacy — P&L, KPIs, and the ability to act on what the numbers say
  • University degree in a related field preferred
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C, maintained annually
  • Criminal Background Check required prior to commencement

The non-negotiables: You lead from the floor. You develop people as a reflex. You hold the standard without being told to. You are humble enough to run someone else's system and hungry enough to run it better than anyone has before.

What You’ll Earn

This is a senior executive role compensated at a level that reflects the caliber of person we're looking for. Beyond base, you'll receive a performance bonus of up to 15% APB, Employee Stock Option Plan, complimentary membership and a Plus One, 4 weeks vacation plus paid Flex days, cellphone allowance, cost‑plus benefits, and Mat/Pat top‑up.

Success Looks Like

One year in — your team is stronger. At least one person has grown into a bigger role. Your department heads are more capable and more accountable than when you arrived. Member retention, utilization, and satisfaction are at or above benchmark. Members know your name. Your team is proud of where they work. The operation holds its standard whether you're in the building or not.
