Securicare is seeking a dedicated Fire Facilitator to support fire and life-safety operations within the Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) portfolio in Metro Vancouver. This is a specialized, field-based role responsible for overseeing fire safety readiness across assigned healthcare sites. You will support emergency response, coordinate drills, ensure compliance with fire safety standards, and work closely with clinical teams, site leadership, and security staff to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with fire systems, emergency response, and the ability to lead during critical situations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Act as the site lead for fire and life-safety systems, including fire panels, alarms, and sprinkler systems
- Monitor, operate, and support fire alarm systems and coordinate response during Code Red events
- Lead and support emergency response efforts, including fire alarms, evacuations, and shelter-in-place procedures
- Conduct and coordinate fire drills, including scheduling, documentation, and performance tracking
- Inspect fire safety equipment, including extinguishers and sprinkler systems, and maintain accurate records
- Identify fire safety risks and support mitigation strategies in alignment with site and regulatory requirements
- Provide fire safety education and training to security staff and site personnel
- Collaborate with clinical teams, facilities, and leadership to ensure coordinated emergency response
- Respond to and support incidents such as fire alarms, suspicious packages, and emergency events
- Maintain detailed documentation of drills, inspections, and incident reports
- Participate in VCH emergency preparedness exercises, including disaster and mass-casualty drills
- Act as a liaison between security, site leadership, and external agencies when required
Requirements:
- Valid BC Security Worker Licence (SWL)
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Demonstrated experience with fire alarm panels, sprinkler systems, and life-safety systems
- Strong understanding of fire safety regulations, codes, and emergency response procedures
- Experience supporting or leading fire drills, evacuations, and emergency preparedness activities
- Knowledge of Code Red procedures and healthcare emergency protocols
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with staff and leadership
- Ability to remain calm and take leadership during emergency situations
- Strong incident documentation and report writing skills
- Experience working in healthcare or similar high-risk environments is preferred
- Post-secondary education in Fire Protection, Safety, or related field is an asset
