With campuses in the Comox Valley, Campbell River, Port Alberni and Port Hardy, as well as in-community and online delivery, NIC plays a vital role in expanding educational access in rural and coastal communities. Known for its student-centred approach, small class sizes and strong community partnerships, the college aligns its programs with regional workforce needs while advancing its mission to offer the best individualized education and training experience in British Columbia.Reporting to the President and serving as a key member of the senior leadership team, the Vice President, Students & Community Engagement provides strategic and operational leadership across a diverse portfolio focused on student success, enrolment management and community connection. The role oversees Student Affairs, the Office of the Registrar, Marketing & Future Students, Community & Public Affairs, and Student Housing, ensuring alignment of services that support recruitment, retention and an exceptional student experience. As the primary liaison with student leaders and the Student Union, the Vice President fosters a responsive, inclusive environment and contributes to institutional planning, including the development and execution of strategic and enrolment management priorities. The Vice President advances student success and wellness by ensuring high-quality programs and services aligned with NIC’s mission and values, while overseeing budgeting, resource allocation and operational effectiveness across the portfolio. The role represents the College externally at provincial and national levels and strengthens relationships with community partners, supporting communications and engagement efforts, including the work of the NIC Foundation. As a people leader, the Vice President promotes a respectful, inclusive and high-performing culture, leading recruitment, performance management and staff development, and contributing to labour relations and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is an experienced post-secondary leader with a proven record of senior leadership in a complex, unionized, multi-campus environment.
