Job description
Randstad, a global leader in talent solutions, is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Sandblaster/Painter (Industrial Painter) for a rewarding opportunity with one of our top manufacturing clients located in East Winnipeg.

If you have a passion for surface preparation, spray application, and working with industrial coatings in a highly structured union environment, this role is perfectly suited for you.

As a Sandblaster/Painter, you will play a critical role in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Your daily work ensures that products not only look professional but are also protected against environmental factors such as corrosion, wear, and extreme temperatures. Utilizing your expertise in applying epoxy, enamel, and other specialized industrial coatings, you will contribute directly to the high quality and durability standards expected in today's fast-paced manufacturing sectors. Based in East Winnipeg, this facility offers a stable and supportive union environment where your technical prowess will be highly valued and recognized.

This role features an excellent day shift schedule, running from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, allowing you to enjoy your afternoons and maintain a healthy work-life balance. Because public transit is tricky to access in this specific area of East Winnipeg at that early hour, having a personal car is highly ideal and will ensure you can commute comfortably and reliably.

Advantages
• Competitive hourly pay ranging from $19.94 to $21.97
• Excellent work-life balance with a set day shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
• Secure and highly supportive union environment
• Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and drug coverage
• Access to a company pension plan to help secure your future financial goals
• Discretionary bonus awarded twice per year based on company and individual performance
• Opportunities to grow your skills within the industry

Responsibilities
• Prepare surfaces using sandblasting, cleaning, buffing, sanding, and masking techniques
• Apply industrial coatings using conventional spray equipment safely and efficiently
• Mix paints, solvents, and industrial coatings to required technical specifications
• Inspect completed work using DFT gauges to ensure strict quality standards are met
• Maintain painting equipment, including cleaning nozzles and hoses, to prevent blockages
• Keep a clean, well-ventilated, and organized work area in accordance with shop standards
• Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements rigorously at all times
• Operate within a structured union environment, adhering to all facility guidelines

Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years of proven hands-on industrial painting or sandblasting experience
• Proficiency in surface preparation, sandblasting, and conventional spray application
• Ability to use and interpret coating thickness measurement tools (DFT gauges)
• Excellent reading comprehension to interpret fabrication drawings and specifications
• Strong attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to producing high-quality work
• Mechanical aptitude for maintaining and troubleshooting industrial painting equipment
• Basic math skills for measuring and mixing coating materials accurately
• Excellent time-management skills to thrive in an early morning day shift routine
• Experience working with epoxy, enamel, or other heavy industrial coatings
• Reliable personal transportation (car is ideal) to access the East Winnipeg location for a 6:00 AM start
• Must pass a respirator fit test (requires you to be clean-shaven for maximum safety)
• Physically fit and capable of safely lifting up to 50 lbs
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and maintain a positive attitude in a team setting
